Why
An Embodiment Focused Support Group?

Many women struggle to feel connected to their bodies. There are many reasons why this can happen such as grind culture, body shame, and feeling guilt for relaxing. Another very serious reason this can happen has to do with living in a sexually violent culture. The culture effects us all whether we have directly experienced violation or not. It can make us feel numb and disconnected, and manifest through fear and shame in the way we move, dress, and communicate. It is common for women and folks to repress their vitality for fear of it being mistaken as "seeking sexual attention."

This group seeks to help those seeking relief by reorienting towards compassionate and sensual embodiment. Sensuality is another area that many disown because they fear seeming provocative. However, sensuality is not inherently or exclusively sexual. In fact, for the purposes of this group, we will explore sensuality simply as a way of enjoying the senses.

(Learn more about distinguishing sensuality & sexuality here.)

It can be isolating to face the issues that come up on an embodiment journey alone, which is why this support group has been created. My hopes are that this group will bring some relief to those wanting support, and hopefully even some fun, joy, and connection.

Meet Your Facilitator

Hi, my name is April Agranoff, and I am passionate about creating a world for women to feel safe in their bodies. I've created this group because healing in connection with others is especially empowering. I became fascinated with somatic therapies after yoga eased my panic attacks, following my father's stroke. I am a registered yoga instructor, barre instructor, Trauma-Informed Sensual Embodiment™ Facilitator, and have over a decade in the outdoor industry. I am currently working towards an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and have focused my studies on somatic therapies, sexual trauma, depression, and PTSD.
