"It's always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never all dried at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising.

Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands,

Each in its turn, as the round earth rolls."

-John Muir

Welcome! I'm April, and I provide depth-oriented somatic therapy. I've been teaching and working with yoga and body-based healing practices since 2018, and hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My background includes leading women's trauma-informed yoga support groups, and facilitating abuse intervention groups. I provide telehealth therapy for River's Way Clinic in Portland, OR, a Process Work-oriented counseling center, and continue to deepen my somatic work through post-graduate training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.

Outside of my therapeutic work, I previously spent 10 years in the outdoor industry as a whitewater raft guide and on ski patrol. My background in both therapeutic as well as high intensity environments makes my approach gentle yet motivating. Our work may include depth exploration and emotional processing, and at times, I incorporate psycho-educational or coaching-oriented support for clients who want practical tools alongside insight.

My lens is depth oriented and humanistic, meaning, I see you as human, and work with your strengths. Rather than look for "what's wrong" with someone, I approach symptoms with curiosity, looking for the hidden wisdom or unmet need beneath distressing patterns of thought, emotion, and body symptoms. This process often illuminates parts of the self, sometimes younger parts, that need tending and support. I take a trauma-informed approach, working with my clients to find a pace that honors all parts of the self. â€‹

Additionally, I work through a somatic lens, which means we go beyond rational thoughts, to understand the way your nervous system responds to stress and trauma. We will spend time understanding and tracking your fight, flight, and freeze responses, as well as develop coping strategies, possible mindset shifts, and/or lifestyle adjustments.
