Bringing the Body
into Therapy

I work with:
-
Trauma and Stress Responses: Fight, Flight, Freeze (and fawn).
-
The emotional side of body symptoms
-
Becoming more attuned to the needs of the emotional body
-
Accessing and reorienting to embodied relief, peace, and comfort

I have led trauma-informed yoga support groups for women, and focused my graduate studies on body-based therapies for sexual trauma. However, body-based therapy can be helpful for all kinds of trauma.

Some clients are called to this process because movement and body awareness can feel less overwhelming than conceptualizing "what happened," while others may have a sense of feeling physically disconnected from themselves, and want to come back.

Working with the body can also help one develop coping tools to access and return to peace before verbally processing unresolved pain.
Did you know that universal emotions such as fear, sadness and happiness activate specific areas of the body?
